Custer Observatory's Astronomy Jamboree

On Sunday, October 27, the Custer Institute held the third day of their 35th Annual Astronomy Jamboree at the Custer Observatory in Southold. We had a breakfast gathering at the Custer Observatory followed by three additional lectures and solar observing.

Solar Observing




Sun with Hydrogen Alpha Filter. Notice solar prominence on left side of the sun, the small point protruding from the side.

Sun with a White Light Solar Filter. The dark spots across the sun's face are Sun Spots. The temperature is lower in these areas.
