On September 27 there was a Lunar Eclipse with the Moon at Perigee. The Moon was 14% larger  then we normally observe it because it is at its closest approach to the Earth in its orbit.

On July 31st we had a second full moon for the month which is known as a Blue Moon. Anytime there are two full moons in a month the second one is known as a Blue Moon.
